Dr. J (aka Pastor Johnny) was born in Jefferson City, Tennessee and spent much of his childhood in New Albany, Indiana. In 1982 his family moved to Warner Robins, Georgia. He spent much of his childhood and some teen years as a Roman Catholic. At age thirteen, he began attending Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins where he was eventually saved and baptized in June of 1988. Soon after he made a public declaration of God’s call on his life to full-time ministry.
In 1991 Pastor Johnny married his wife Elissa. They have three children Savannah, Andrew and Sarah Elisabeth. In April of 2005 Pastor Johnny began his ministry at Green Acres as Senior pastor.

He graduated from Georgia Southern University with a B.S. in Public Recreation. He then completed his Master of Divinity at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He earned his Doctor of Ministry from Luther Rice University in Atlanta, Georgia.
